Outlook Design Furniture was established by Derek Ireton in September 1979. Derek has been responsible for creating all the product designs over the past 31 years.
The company first made a self supporting hammock frame and then introduced the multi coloured bunk bed to the nation, continuing on to make a large range of products for the wholesale market.
Over the years Outlook has been a major exporter of bunk beds, occasional and dining furniture, supplying Freedom Furniture in Australia with distributors in the United States, Singapore and Denmark.
In 1991 Outlook also won the National Enterprise Business of the year award.
Outlook employed over 100 people and ran three shifts of work at its peak. With the advent of free trade or the lack of fair trade over the past 10 years, Outlook, along with most New Zealand manufacturers, has had to work hard to make their business survive.
Outlook currently employs 10 people and sells direct to the public, designing and manufacturing all their own products.
We no longer export as our focus is on the New Zealand consumer, bringing them something unique with the ability for the customer to have input into the end product by choosing various colour combinations.
